Pride and Prejudice | My thoughts| By Jane Austen

Hey everyone! I'm back with another post. My passion is literature. I love reading American/ Indian feministic novels. So, here are my thoughts about the famous "Pride and Prejudice" By Jane Austen, which I'm pretty sure everyone knows about. The reason why it's Britain's favorite book is because it's a beautifully written feministic novel, which was actually written during 1797, where most woman didn't have their basic inalienable rights. Although, this book was written two centuries before, it's still cherished and embraced by people all around the world.

Story plot:

The story plot revolves around Elizabeth (Lizzy) of the Bennet family. Being born in a society like that, women are denied of having dreams, and are forced and encouraged on getting married to a man. Elizabeth spends most of her time in her father's library acquiring knowledge.
When she stumbles upon Fitzwilliam Darcy for the first time in a ball, she writes him off as an arrogant and Self-regarded man. He not only behaved so conceited, but he also rejected the very idea of asking her to dance with him.
As they get parted again and again by their diverse characters. Darcy starts falling for Elizabeth's wit and intelligence. Elizabeth who first concluded Darcy as an insufferable snob, now begins to think if her pride had prejudiced her feelings about Mr. Darcy after he saved Elizabeth's sister Lydia from a scandal.
This is a remarkable piece of work by Jane Austen about the life in eighteenth century!

My thoughts:

I think this novel is a revolutionary piece of work to support and uplift women all over the world. The fact that Elizabeth denied Mr. Darcy's proposal and the fact that she prioritized her feelings and dreams over the society's standards empowers women. This novel taught me a lot about the life in eighteenth century, especially the lives of women. It was very wholesome to read about the rebellious Elizabeth who proved to be a breaker of barriers among the society. Although Elizabeth's pride had prejudiced her thoughts about Mr. Darcy, it was so delightful to see her grow and learn. The same goes for Mr. Darcy who first seemed to be self-regarded and full of vain grew into a man of benevolence and goodwill. This book also taught me to believe in what I see, than to believe in what I hear, which I think is the driving cause which lead Elizabeth to be prejudiced about Mr. Darcy.  Jane Austen is one of my favorite authors who mirrors the real life society and brings her characters beat the odds and come out victorious, which is so empowering. I still can't digest the fact that this novel was written almost two centuries ago, but it still enthralls readers to this very day.

"People themselves alter so much, that there is something new to be observed in them forever"
